Build Up- NYFW

"What I'm here to do is celebrate the fashion season, in season,"…..Donna karan

It’s that time of the year again, when the fashion, style and glam lot gather at the Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week. Over 250 (regular and new) designers are set to showcase what’s new and hot from Thursday 8th Sept to Sunday 13th Sept, 2011.
Already, designs from BCBG Max Azria, Richard Chai Love, Tadashi Shoji, Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler  have graced the runway so trust me, celebrities and all that are fashion forward  are now ordering. Other designers to look forward to are Victoria Beckham's DVB, Calvin Klein, Marchesa, Ellie Saab, Micheal Kors and loads of haute coutoure
If you are not in NYC it is painful to miss catching a glimpse or two of the event live but you can equally catch all the jist, peek and gossip online, on fashion blogs, youtube and TV channels.
For BCBG, the colors on board were soothing and uplifting like chalk gray, light stone, blush pink, pops of yellow, blue, coral and emerald green, all used absomazingly. The various pieces were inspired by a mash-up of neutrals with moderate tribal-inspired prints and embroideries "reflecting an urban, global spirit."

On this side of the world, designers like Jewel by Lisa (JBL) will be at the NYFW and according to her, what to expect is a modern translation of Nigeria in the 60s: using traditional menswear and classic garments or pieces from that era as an inspiration to create ultra-feminine pieces for today's woman. As always, we shall also see lots of exquisite hand-embellished ankara pieces (JBL’s signature) and custom-made luxurious prints which have all been personalized. JBL’s newly expanded accessories line will also sample different types of belts and beaded bags. Other African designers that will be present at the event are the very much talented Bunmi Koko, Tsemaye Binitie and a few others
Apart from the fashion shows themselves, a lot of hanging out and partying is already happening at the big apple from last night so it’s a lot to look forward to this weekend for actual and virtual attendees.
Guess what!!! There are more fashion shows coming in the next couple of weeks in London, Milan and Paris so the global fashion industry is not playing or smiling, just now
Take out is, it is important for all that are fierce and modish to catch up on the trends because they will be spotted very shortly on the high street and in stores, around the world. Its fun, its fab and it’s fashion so, don’t be left out!
Ms Modish will keep her eyes open all weekend, ears to the ground and notepad close by to give you the entire scoop on all the innate fashion and style made manifest on the runway, through it all.
Have a fierce weekend
Its ms modish,
xoxo
